Castillo de San Marcos (Old Fort) in St. Augustine Florida.

Cool draw bridge with a tall ship in the background.

Construction on the fort started in 1672 and was used until 1900.

 Front door

 Sleeping quarters

Powder storage room.  You enter through the small door in the lower right corner.

 The brass ages really cool.

The wood and dirt wall extended to a river to protect form troops landing and marching in.

Oven for heating shot/cannon balls to start ships on fire.

All the blocks were made with sea shells.  The shells are softer then stone so when the walls were hit they tended to absorb the impact instead of cracking.  Down side is they don't weather as good.
